Butte Fire Friday Evening Update 63% Containment, 503 Homes & 330 Outbuildings Lost

San Andreas, CA…Tonight’s update marked another huge jump in the number of homes lost. It now stands at a staggering 503 Homes and 330 outbuildings lost. We had heard unofficial estimates from fire personnel in this range, but hoped upon hoped they were guessing wrong. This raised the bar even higher for all of us especially in areas undamaged by the fire to uplift our friends and neighbors. In many cases they have lost everything. Most will be insured but there will be gaps, holes, and potholes in their path back to normalcy. Our area is filled with wonderful caring people and organizations who will leave no stone unturned in their battle to make our county whole again. A year from now let us all have a goal of having Communities damaged by the Butte Fire become the model for how you not only recover from a disaster, but use it as a springboard for making our area better than it ever has been.
