Butte Fire Sunday Morning Update 70% Containment, 535 Homes & 347 Outbuildings Lost

San Andreas, CA…As assessment crews make their rounds the homes lost number continues to rise. As of this morning we stand at 535 homes & 347 outbuildings destroyed. Fire behavior remained minimal during the night within the fire perimeter. Firefighters continue mop-up operations to increase containment lines. Smoke may continue to impact the affected fire areas and surrounding communities. The public is reminded to use caution as utility services, such as electrical, water and sewer, may not be restored for up to a week.

1) El Dorado Trail east of East Murray Creek Rd
2) Green Ranch Rd north of East Murray Creek Rd

1) All areas and roads inside the fire perimeter with the exceptions of the evacuation areas listed above.
2) All areas and roads south of the fire to Calaveritas Rd to Dogtown Rd to San Domingo to Fullen Rd
3) The areas and roads east of the fire from areas north from the intersection of Sheep Ranch Rd and Fricot City Rd, areas north of the towns along the Hwy 4 corridor to Camp Connell (Towns of Murphy, Arnold, Dorrington are open), and areas south from Doe Rd and Railroad Flat Rd to the intersection of Mitchell Mill Rd and Blue Mountain Rd.

    REPOPULATION SAFETY ADVISORY

    On behalf of CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 1, public safety is our main concern. As mandatory evacuations are being lifted throughout the affected fire areas, we want to remind the public that a safety advisory in still in effect. As residents return back into their homes, please be advised that an active fire still exists in the area and remain alert to any changes in fire conditions. Please use caution as emergency vehicles and personnel are still in the area.

CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 1 will conduct community meetings in Amador and Calaveras Counties to provide information and general overview of the Butte Fire. Representatives will be addressing community needs and answering questions.

The Sheriff’s Office has established a temporary dedicated telephone line for missing persons associated with the Butte Fire for the duration of the emergency response period. This number is reserved for missing persons related to the Butte Fire only. To report a missing person, please call (209) 754-6345. This number is not for welfare checks. The Sheriff’s Office requests that any missing person’s reports that are not associated with the Butte Fire be reported to Calaveras Sheriff’s Dispatch Center at (209) 754-6500.
