San Andreas, CA…Meet Simone – a lovely, medium-haired gray tabby approximately six years young. Like Billy whom you met last week, Simone is one of five abandoned cats that a kindly woman was feeding. However, this woman is now moving to an assisted living facility and her friends brought the cats to the shelter. Exceptionally outgoing, Simone adores people and attention. When you walk into her communal room, she weaves her body around and between your legs. Should you not immediately respond, Simone will sit on your foot until you do. (Getting Simone’s photo was a challenge, too, because what she wanted most was to cuddle.) She also loves laps and being brushed, a good thing since she has the type of fur that will require regular grooming. We feel this sweet girl would do best in a home with other friendly felines and one where she can be showered with affection.
As with all cats available for adoption, Simone is up-to-date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already spayed, Simone is able to go home with you today!
Come visit Simone, impound no. AO51679, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Simone’s impound number when making inquiries.
Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.
Volunteers are also very much needed. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would appreciate your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.
Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
