Jack and Jill Are Your Calaveras Pets of the Week

San Andreas, CA… Meet Jack (with the pink nose) and Jill, two adorable black and white tuxedo-colored, older kittens. Sweet and incredibly gentle, both are still a bit on the shy side and what one might call works in progress. After lots of attention from staff and shelter volunteers, they will now approach visitors and enjoy being petted. Jack and Jill, however, never leave one another’s side and should be adopted together. They should also be indoor kitties only as they will certainly be nervous upon adoption and likely run off if let outdoors. Both will require a calm household with a patient, cat-savvy person or family who will give them the consistent, loving attention they need to continue to gain confidence and thrive. That kind of patient, understanding human we recognize is one in a million but hoping there is someone out there who can give these wonderful kittens the life they deserve. Maybe that person is you?

As with all cats available for adoption, Jack and Jill are up-to-date on their routine vaccinations and have been micro-chipped. Already altered, they are able to go home with you today.

Come visit Jack and Jill, impound nos. A051650 and A051649, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about these kitties, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to their impound numbers when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would appreciate your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
