Arnold, CA…PG&E is working around the clock to restore power to customer to customers in Calaveras County, including customers in Arnold. Currently we have around 4,600 customers in Arnold still without power due to storm damage. PG&E has 66 crews working in the area, including crews that we brought in from Kern County and Marysville. Damage from wind, heavy rains and snow, and access issues due to roads blocked by trees, debris and snow, was sever in the Arnold area, and has made restoration challenging. PG&E’s assessments following the storm resulted in 450 locations with storm damage. In some cases, PG&E crews have to rebuild portions of entire circuits, including removing broken poles and downed wire, and installing newer poles and powerlines. Some of the storm damage in Arnold occurred in an area that’s accessible by a one-lane road that’s now being used by both PG&E crews and residents, making access even more challenging. We know how frustrating it is to be without power, especially for extended periods of time. We are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore power to customers. Estimated times of restoration range from this afternoon to Friday and Saturday, depending on the extent of the damage.
To help the local community, PG&E is supporting the warming centers opened by Calaveras OES. This week we made a donation of 1,000 blankets, a pallet of water and 500 batteries to help local citizens.
PG&E is aware the hardship that extended outages represent and appreciates the patience of our customers. Residential customers who are without power for more than 48 hours due to a severe event may qualify for Storm Inconvenience Payments under the Safety Net Program. Visit this website to learn more.
Again, please know that our crews are working around the clock to restore power. The weather forecast calls for rain this week, which will help melt some of the snow that is creating access challenges to allow us to make repairs.
