Angels Camp, CA…The Bret Harte Athletic Hall of Fame selection committee is pleased to announce the selection of 12 individuals and one team for induction into the Hall of Fame as the class of 2021. The 2021 Induction Ceremony will be deferred and combined with the 2022 Induction Ceremony tentatively scheduled for the Fall of 2022.

Athletic Hall of Fame individual inductees were considered primarily on their achievements as high school student athletes and coaches at Bret Harte. Character values, during and after their high school years, are a major consideration.

Harry Auten, Coach. Taken from 1941 Bret Harte Year Book

Mr. Auten was a teacher and coach at Bret Harte for 19 years. During that time, he taught many different subjects, started the Bret Harte football program in 1928, and led his baseball team to a League Championship title and Bret Harte’s only appearance at a CIF Tournament in 1930. Auten is also credited for writing Bret Harte’s alma mater around 1930.
