Merced, CA…Five people were injured and a suspect is deceased after a stabbing incident on the University of California, Merced, campus this morning (Nov. 4). The suspect was shot by police and later died from his injuries, according to the UC Merced Police Department. Two of the victims were transported by helicopter to a local hospital, and the other three were treated on campus. All victims were conscious. The incident occurred in front of the Classroom and Office Building.
The campus has been closed for the day and all classes canceled. Police advise people to avoid coming to campus for the rest of the day. Additional information will be reported as it is confirmed. Visit emergency.ucmerced.edu for more information.
