San Andreas, CA…Members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office were out and about this weekend supporting two of some of our favorite local traditions: the 33rd Annual Grape Stomp in Murphys and the 51st Annual Lumberjack Day in West Point.
The Grape Stomp, which began in 1993, brings plenty of fun, friendly competition, and community spirit to Murphys each year while celebrating our county’s wine-growing heritage.
Over in West Point, Lumberjack Day celebrated its 51st year with a parade, classic cars, the soap box derby, logging competitions, and plenty of small-town pride. The event pays tribute to the area’s long history and connection to the timber industry.
We also want to give a big shout-out to our Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Division for putting in the extra work throughout the weekend. Our volunteers were out on patrol and helping staff roadblocks to assist with traffic control and keep everyone safe while they enjoyed these community events.
We appreciate the time, dedication, and teamwork our volunteers continue to give to Calaveras County. Thank you for helping us keep our communities safe!
And a big THANK YOU to all the organizers, volunteers, businesses, and community members who put in countless hours to make these events happen. It’s the people who continue to show up, lend a hand, and support one another that make Calaveras County such a special place to call home.
