Caltrans Tree Removal on Hwy 89 in Alpine County

Alpine County, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct tree work next week on State Route 89 in Alpine County. One-way traffic control will be employed from Laramie Street to East Carson River beginning Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is an Emergency Director’s Order to remove damaged trees caused by the Tamarack Fire and winter storms that brought above average snowfall and high wind gusts to the Sierra Nevada. The project will continue until spring 2022.

Motorists should expect 10- minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible.
Work is scheduled as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather,
availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
