Sonora, CA…On September 24, 2023, at approximately 7:20 pm, a 37-year-old San Jose resident, was riding a 1999 Suzuki motorcycle on Buchanan Road, east of Canyon Drive at an undetermined speed. The rider failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control of the motorcycle. As a result, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a metal guardrail.

CHP units responded to the crash along with Tuolumne Ambulance service personnel. Upon arrival on scene, emergency personnel began performing lifesaving efforts, however the rider succumbed to their injuries on scene. The rider was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor.

This crash is under investigation and the identity of the rider is being held pending family notification.
