Mountain Ranch, CA…On October 29th at about 10:30 PM, Deputies were dispatched to the 8000 block of West Murray Creek Rd, Mountain Ranch, regarding an in-progress theft. The reporting person stated they could see at least one male on the property of the legally permitted marijuana cultivation.
Upon arrival, the deputies established a perimeter around the property with the assistance of California Highway Patrol Officers. An air asset from the Stanislas County Sheriff’s Office was requested. CCSO Canine Deputy Titan was deployed into the fence grow area to help safely search for the suspect. While searching, Titan located Suspect Carlos Osuna, age 40, from San Jose, Ca, near a portion of the recently cut fence. Suspect Osuna complied with orders and was taken into custody without incident.
Titan and other deputies continued to search the property for additional suspects. While searching, deputies noted the smell of cigarette smoke. Titan located Suspect Mark Arias Flores, age 37, from San Jose, Ca, hiding in dense foliage. Suspect Arias Flores failed to follow the initial commands and was subsequently bit on an extremity by Titan. Suspect Arias Flores was eventually taken into custody and afforded first aid without further incident. A third suspect, Suspect Tyrone Castaldi, age 59 , from Anderson, CA, was in the same vicinity as Suspect Arias Flores.
He complied with the deputy’s commands and was taken into custody without incident.
Stanislas County Sheriff’s Office arrived and began searching the area using forward-looking infrared (FLIR). While searching the air unit located Suspect Frank Jenner, age 45, from Etna, CA, was hiding in a tree. Suspect Jenner followed the deputy’s commands and was taken into custody without incident.
All suspects were booked into the county jail and are now facing multiple charges, including grand theft, conspiracy, and drug-related charges.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the allied agencies involved in apprehending the four suspects. Their efforts greatly enhanced the safety of the incident.
