Fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision in Sonora

Sonora, CA…On December 07, 2023, at approximately 11:55 pm, a pedestrian was standing on the south shoulder of State Route 108, west of Sullivan Creek Road. At that same time, 41-year-old Courtney Johnson of Sonora was driving a 2012 Ford Expedition eastbound on State Route 108. As Ms. Johnson approached the pedestrian, he suddenly stepped into the roadway directly in front of her vehicle.

As a result, the front of Ms. Johnson’s vehicle struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered major injuries, which he succumbed to those injuries at the scene. Ms. Johnson was wearing a seatbelt and did not sustain any injuries.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in this crash. The identity of the pedestrian is still unknown at this time.
