Douglas Flat, CA…In the early hours of Monday, December 11th, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was contacted about an assault with a deadly weapon (knife) that occurred in Douglas Flat on the 100 block of Holiday Mine Road.
Upon arriving, Sheriff deputies learned the individuals involved were known to each other and resided on the same property, albeit in separate areas.
The situation escalated from two separate physical altercations within a brief period of time between 52-year-old Kenneth Price and the victim, another property resident. The initial physical altercation ended with the two separating.
The second confrontation led to the victim being cut with a knife, causing injuries to his upper torso. Sheriff deputies moved the victim to a safe location for medical treatment while attempts were made to apprehend the suspect, Price. Initially, he refused to cooperate with the deputy’s commands. However, Price eventually complied and was placed into custody without further incident.
The victim was transported to a Valley area hospital for medical treatment of serious injuries.
Price was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Obstructing the Investigation.
This case is still under investigation.
