Angels Camp, CA…A 36 year old Murphys man was traveling northbound on SR-49 north of Copello Dr. at a high rate of speed. An Angels Camp police officer was following his Chrysler 300 with emergency lights activated in an attempt to make an enforcement stop. A 41 year old Pine Grove woman in her Ford F250 was traveling northbound on SR-49 ahead of the Chrysler. A 54 year old Mokelumne Hill man in his 2012 F550 was traveling southbound on SR-49 approaching the other two vehicles. The Murphys man allowed the front of his car to collide into the left rear of the Pine Grove woman’s pickup. She was able to regain control after the collision and safely slow to a stop on the shoulder. He lost control of his 300 and spun into the southbound lane.
The Mokelumne Hill man had no time to avoid a collision and the front of his Ford collided with the driver side of the Chrysler. The F550 came to rest on its wheels, facing in an easterly direction, partially blocking the southbound lane. The Chrysler came to rest on its wheels facing in a south easterly direction, partially blocking the northbound lane. The Murphys man was ejected from his vehicle and came to rest on the east shoulder, near the left front of his car. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and released into the care of the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
I hope he gets some time for what he did.
