Sen. Alvarado-Gil on “Taylen and Wyatt’s” Law

Sacramento, CA…Today, Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil (R-Jackson) issued the following statement clarifying the status of Senate Bill 818 (SB 818), also known as “Taylen and Wyatt’s Law”:

“The version of SB 818 that passed the Senate Natural Resources Committee yesterday is not the bill the Brooks family and I fought for, but it has not been pulled. After consulting with the family, they chose not to support the amended version — a decision I fully respect. Despite this, the committee forced those hostile amendments through — a shady, all too common tactic the Democratic supermajority uses to quietly kill legislation. I’m grateful to the Brooks family and to my constituents in El Dorado County for standing with us. I remain committed to finding a path forward, and to delivering a bill truly worthy of the name ‘Taylen and Wyatt’s Law.’”

Senator Alvarado-Gil represents the 4th Senate District including the Counties of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne.

Go figure that the democrats stopped this. The biggest reason being is that the foothills and mountains of California vote Republican, time after time, and for good reason.
Look at just one recent facts on mountain lion attacks that have been recorded.
“Before 2020, the county (El Dorado) saw an average of about 30 animals killed each year. But last year, that number reached 230 and includes horses and large dogs.”
From 30 to 230 animals killed and that’s just what is known, so it’s a larger toll than that. But since democrat politicians just care about where the votes are? Democrats don’t give a shot about those living in the country.
Perfect example, Newsom lying about fire prevention work allegedly done after the worst death toll in our History.

Here’s what the Democrat friendly SF Gate found out along with NBC, ABC, and every major left wing friendly station in the Bay Area and throughout CA reported and our Governor and his office had never responded.

“The four biggest findings from the report are:

    – Newsom overstated the number of acres treated with fuel breaks and prescribed burns by 690%. He claimed 90,000 acres have been treated after he signed an executive order authorizing burns on 35 priority projects, but CapRadio reports the actual acreage number is 11,399.

    – The number of acres Cal Fire treated in 2020 — the most destructive fire season in California history — was half of what it was in 2019.

    – Newsom slashed $150 million from Cal Fire’s wildfire prevention budget in 2020.

    – Several wildfire experts say the state has done nowhere near enough to be prepared for the 2021 wildfire season.

The CapRadio report states that Newsom’s office did not respond to “multiple requests for comment over the course of two weeks.” Newsom has repeatedly touted the 90,000 acre figure in public appearances and press releases.

Cal Fire chief Tom Porter did talk to CapRadio, and per the report, “acknowledged the figures cited by Newsom were incorrect and took responsibility for the governor’s misstatements.”

CapRadio’s report comes at a time California Democrats are working to accelerate the timeline for Newsom’s recall election in an attempt to hold the election before wildfire and power blackout season. Elected Democrats have openly acknowledged the threat wildfire season could pose to Newsom’s political fortunes.”

Senator Alvarado-Gil’s statement highlights the challenging path of SB 818, “Taylen and Wyatt’s Law.” The amended version faced opposition from the Brooks family, whose wishes are paramount. Navigating legislative hurdles can feel like a complex online arena, much like mastering challenging io games. Finding a path forward requires strategic thinking, similar to conquering leaderboards in those games. The commitment remains to honor Taylen and Wyatt with meaningful legislation.
