Arnold, CA..It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lyle Milton Palmer, 84, who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Lyle, also known as Butch, was born on April 19, 1940 in Shelby, Ohio. He was a proud member of the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee Association, a dedicated husband, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Lyle was a proud Army veteran as a paratrooper, serving on aircrafts while also stationed in Germany with his best friend Mario Castillo. He also enjoyed reading about the Bret Harte High School athletic teams in local newspapers to give updates to his granddaughter who graduated with the 2012 class.
He is survived by his wife Sherrie Palmer, his son’s Jermey & Butch, his daughters Patty, Andrea, & Tiffany, his grandchildren Anita Guerrero, Rowan & Madison Kavanagh, Kyle Henley, Rachel Garza, his great grandchildren Carter Klein, Nolan & Ethan Henley.
A memorial service will be held on June 28, 2025 at 1:00pm at Big Trees Community Bible Church in Arnold CA. Following the services there will be a Celebration of Life Potluck at White Pines Lake at the Lions Grove Picnic Area.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee and Bret Harte High School athletics in Lyle Palmer’s memory.
What a wonderful tribute to Lyle’s life and legacy. His service as a proud Army veteran, as well as his commitment to family, community, and local sports, accurately depict the type of guy he was. I wish comfort and serenity to his loved ones during this difficult time.
