Sonora, CA…On May 24, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM, Boyd Fuller Palmer III, 40-years-old of Coulterville, CA, was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger, southbound on Wards Ferry Rd. south of Powell Ranch Rd in a closed section of roadway. For an unknown reason, Palmer failed to safely negotiate a curve in the roadway and allowed the Ford to travel off the west road edge. The Ford traveled down the steep mountainside, out of control and overturned multiple times, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. Both the vehicle and driver came to rest within a ravine several hundred feet below the roadway.
On May 25, 2025, at approximately 6:40 PM, Sonora CHP Units were advised of a crash with a possible fatality. The crash wreckage was discovered by a passing boater in the remote Tuolumne River Canyon, below Wards Ferry Rd. Due to the remote location, time of day, and the extremely steep terrain of the crash site, the recovery and investigation resumed the following morning.
On May 26, 2025, at approximately 7:00 AM, Sonora CHP Units and the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team returned to scene and recovered the deceased party. This crash is still under investigation.
Following the recovery, the decedent’s next of kin was notified. Drug and/or alcohol use is unknown at this time.
His brakes gave out.
Too bad Trump wasn’t in the car. RIP.
Too bad you weren’t in the car. RIP
I wish Mr. Know it All was in the car. Screaming I’m to die
Why is my brake pedal going to the floor?
Rest in peace BJ.
Rest in peace BJ, I’m glad I got to see you on your birthday, love ya bubba
BJ was the sweetest little kid. Always smiling and helpful. Such fond memories of him as a child when my family lived up in GH many years ago. Sad to hear this news. Prayers for his loved ones – my deepest condolences.
I’m sad to hear this. When we were little, BJ rescued my bunny who got lost in the woods. He had such a good heart. Rest in peace BJ.
