Pioneer, CA…The driver of the 2005 Volkswagen was traveling westbound on SR-88 yesterday, east of Inspiration East Road at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a large tree. The crash caused the vehicle to separate into two pieces at which time the driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of this crash.
This crash is currently under investigation and it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.

it was in front of Gibsons. Near E Inspiration and Highway 88
Why does “if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash” types of commentary always need to be added? Kind of insulting to the man’s memory. Pretty obvious that speed for that road and capabilities of the vehicle were far exceeded.
