Special Olympics Flame of Hope Torch Escorted from Amador to Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA…On Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, the Special Olympics Flame of Hope Torch was escorted from Amador County into Calaveras County while being delivered to the 2025 Special Olympics Summer Games.
























Special Olympics Athletes carried the Flame of Hope with an entourage comprised of members of the California Highway Patrol along with Calaveras County Agencies, including Board of Supervisors, Clerk Recorder’s Office, Public Health, Auditor Controller’s Office, Human Resources, Integrated Waste, Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Volunteers, and the Home Health Services Agency. East Bay Municipal Utility District opened its facilities and hosted the event, which took place over the picturesque Pardee Dam.

The Special Olympics Torch Run is a public awareness and fundraising event that raises funds for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. These athletes can receive training, education, and competition opportunities at no cost, thanks to the funds raised during the Torch Run.
