Columbia, CA…On July 23, 2025, at approximately 1754 hours, a black 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 56-year-old male from Puerto Rico was traveling westbound on Shaws Flat Road, stopped at the stop sign controlling the intersection of State Route 49. A white 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup driven by an 18-year-old male from Jamestown was traveling northbound on State Route 49 at approximately 60 MPH, approaching the intersection of Shaws Flat Road.
For unknown reasons the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee proceeded westbound directly in front of the Dodge Ram 2500. The front of the Dodge collided with the left side of the Jeep, causing the Jeep to be propelled in a northwesterly direction, coming to rest on the west shoulder of State Route 49. The driver and three passengers of the Jeep suffered fatal injuries from this crash.
The driver of the Dodge suffered moderate to major injury from this crash. Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in this crash, at this time.

Why would it be pertinent to saw the driver was from Puerto Rico? Was he visiting? Was he here illegally? Does it matter? Sounds a bit racist and inappropriate to an accident news story.
