Yes, really. $30B paid by us consumers so far. The countries that have tariffs do not pay, we do. Also, the U.S. Constitution Article 1 Section 8 states that “Congress shall have the power to…collect taxes, duties, imposts, and excises…” No emergency warrants Presidential intervention.

So liberty means building in flood plains?
Cosgrove Creek floods comes to mind.
Building with less regulation which protects others, is a fantasy.
Jarvis tax radicals in Ca State legislature caused many problems, closed parks, roads degraded, schools full of mold, this is what we got.
It took the voters fed up to get Jerry Brown , elected, with modest sales tax increase, and higher taxes on the wealthy , to make Ca get out of the red, and rebuild the roads, schools , open the parks, return Ca to what it had before the Jarvis anti tax revolt.

Reminds me of the State of Jefferson dreamers.
If that came to be, what agencies would fight large wild, forest fires, floods, other disasters that do happen?

Government is there to help all citizens.
With equitable conditions, a society works well.
In what we see now with huge wealth inequality, billionaires bought our courts, congress, justice system to serve them not the 99%.

In the Constitution the phrase is – to promote general welfare .
This is not the stolen phrase of general welfare as the wealthy have done, it refers to a fair equitable economy with a living wage, and living conditions for the majority.

The billionaires now with tax cuts for them mostly, have manufactured welfare for them, not all of us.

The taco tariffs are how they will get their tax cut revenue, their welfare extracted from all of us a tariff is a tax we all have to pay.

Al is a fossil. Quite literally a diaper wearing old fart with uncontrollable flatulence. Tax advice? How about go away and give no advice. You are irrelevant. And have no idea what life is like for the average working class.
