Angels Camp, CA…A proud fifth-generation Calaveras County native whose ancestors came during the Gold Rush, Helen built a life rooted in both heritage and exploration. She worked for many years in the mortgage industry, where she was admired not only for her professionalism, but also for the lasting relationships she built and the pride she took in helping others achieve their goals.
Outside of work, Helen’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. A lifelong rock ’n’ roll enthusiast, she curated an extensive music collection and attended countless concerts, including legendary mountain shows of the 1970s and 80s. She also enjoyed writing her own lyrics and music, finding joy in creative expression.
Travel was one of Helen’s greatest joys, especially when she shared with her mother. Together, they explored Europe as well as the East and West coasts of the United States, visiting historic landmarks, museums, and art centers that deepened her love of culture and history. She also had a keen interest in astrology, delighting in sharing her
insights with friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell (2022) and Jane (2013), and her beloved nieces, Katherine Bowie (1991) and Michelle Lee (2015).
She is survived by her brother, David (Debbie) Ponte; her niece, Nicole (Nick); and her cherished nephews, Cooper, Cole, and Cade. Helen will also be deeply missed by her extended family of cousins and her many friends, who will remember her creativity, adventurous spirit, and the warmth she brought into their lives.
Interment will be private in the Bowie family plot in Copperopolis, California. In lieu of flowers, memorial scholarship contributions may be made in memory of Katherine Bowie and Michelle Lee to the Calaveras Community Foundation, P. O. Box 1436, Angels Camp, CA 95222.

Thank you for sharing. I would have never known. Helen was always super nice to me as I was young in real estate when I first knew her.
