Valley Springs, CA…As a proud Veterans Build Affiliate, Habitat for Humanity Calaveras will host its 3rd annual 9/11 Day of Service on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Jenny Lind Veterans Memorial District Park in Valley Springs. This meaningful day is dedicated to honoring the sacrifice of veterans and first responders while also giving back to the community through service.
“On this day of remembrance, we invite every resident of Calaveras County, young and old, to join us in honoring our heroes and coming together in service,” said Gregg Smith, president of Habitat Calaveras. “Whether you pick up a paintbrush, share in reflection, or simply stand in solidarity, your presence matters. Together, we can make this a day that uplifts both our community and the spirit of those who have given so much.”
The Day of Service begins with a volunteer project from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, focused on revitalizing the park’s playground equipment to ensure it remains a safe and welcoming space for local families. Volunteers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate, and all supplies will be provided.
At 11:00 AM, the community will gather for a ceremony honoring veterans and first responders. The program will feature keynote speakers, including Major General Andrew Juknelis, U.S. Army, Retired, and District 1 Supervisor Gary Tofanelli, a patriotic flyover, face painting, presentation of the colors, and live music by the Calaveras Community Band. A complimentary BBQ lunch will be served to attendees, followed by music and reflections commemorating 9/11.
This free event is open to all, offering a chance to serve, reflect, and pay tribute to those who protect and inspire us.

This veterans hall is a JOKE just a bunch of drunks looking for a cheap drink the information they give is never correct some old bags that have no idea what they are talking about!
Someone please kill Trump
Hope someone shoots up your trailer one night.
I wholeheartedly agree if you need any I mean any information go to the VA in Stockton or to the Hospital in French Camp do not rely on these old women just looking for a place to hangout and want to act important that do not have a life
These people give misleading information of benefit that they have no idea and give false hope to Vets and in the end and a long awaited time do not materialize very disappointing
You people have no idea what boot camp is like! Or the Swamps of Nam! Or what its like to sleep on dirt dreaming of your man back home!! Bunch of pansies never served!!!
