On September 30, 2025, at approximately 6:30 pm, Sonora Area CHP units were dispatched to a vehicle crash on State Route 108, west of Peaceful Oak Road. Preliminary, on-scene investigation indicates that a 2003 Volkswagen Bug, driven by a 29-year-old female Sonora resident, traveled westbound on State Route 108 at an unknown speed. The driver allowed the Volkswagen to travel across the eastbound lane and off the south road edge where it overturned.

The driver was unbelted and was ejected from the vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts, the driver succumbed to her
injuries at the scene.

It is suspected that DUI played a factor in this crash.
