Bear Valley, CA…Hey Good People! Well……let’s start off with Happy New Year to all ya’ll! Hopefully everyone had a good send off to 2025. Now let’s get to some weather. 0.89″ of rain has fallen as of 7am this morning and will continue for a few more hours as we should see a shift to snow by mid-day as the cooler temps make their way over the forecast area.

A high of 37F today will give way to temps dropping into the upper 20’s which will result in 1-2″ of snowfall in the later part of the day with 1-2″ falling tonight. A brief break on Friday will show a mix of sun and clouds as the next wave moves onshore bringing all snowfall by Friday evening with 1-3″ falling at that time. Saturday things ramp up with 4-8″ during the day, 5-9″ Saturday night, 9-13″ on Sunday and more to follow for the next handful of days!

Winds over the next few days will be in the teens then ramping up a bit as the Saturday system arrives where we may see some gusting into the 30’s.

The rain is in some ways unfortunate but it will only help the snowpack to lockup and create a base lasting into spring!

So, let’s get stoked that we’ll see decent snowfall totals over the next week with snowline elevations dropping to 5500″ over the weekend.

Backcountry Conditions are showing “moderate” avalanche hazards as per S.A.C. but will shift into the considerable range at minimum with the expected snowfall starting Friday. Check them out daily for any changes that may occur:
