Barbara Ann, You’ll be Singing Bar, Bar, Barbara Ann if You Bring Her Home Today!

San Andreas, CA…Barbara Ann: female German Shepherd mix, 1 1/2 years old, 38 pounds. Barbara Ann is a young German Shepherd mix who has been steadily gaining confidence and showing her sweet, affectionate nature during her time at Calaveras County Animal Services. Found straying along Gold Strike Road in San Andreas, she arrived a bit anxious, as many young dogs do when they suddenly find themselves without familiar people or surroundings. With patience, consistency, and care from staff and volunteers, she has made wonderful progress.

One of Barbra Ann’s most endearing qualities is how connected she is to people. She looks directly into your eyes, leans in for affection, and happily accepts cuddles. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be close, and she’s likely to form a strong bond with her future family.

Barbra Ann has a soft coat and a compact build. While she may have a little growing left to do, she’s not expected to be a very large dog. She sits nicely for treats, takes them gently, and shows a clear eagerness to learn. Leash walking is still new for her, but she’s attentive and picking it up quickly — a great sign for continued training.
Barbra Ann would do well in a home ready to support a young dog as she finishes growing up — offering structure, exercise, training, and plenty of affection. In return, she promises devotion, warmth, and the kind of companionship that makes a house feel like home.
