The Del Monte cannery in Modesto canned fruit! There are many growers in the Modesto area that will be affected by this closure. The trickle down effect of this type of ag closure effects the nurseries that provide the root stock, the planters of the young trees, the farmers who have provided the land to raise these crops,the truck companies that haul these commodities to the cannery, and the finished product to grocery outlets, etc.
My guess is that the above commentor knows nothing about ag, maybe you would like to see housing and strip malls over this once fertile land. Just like what is happening between the city of Sacramento and SMF. Those county planners and developers all belong in jail. Once you destroy what you have , there’s no turning back!
