Threat Reported Against Jenny Lind Elementary School. Valley Springs Man Arrested

Valley Springs, CA…The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update regarding the reported threat made against Jenny Lind Elementary School involving the school’s public address (PA) system.

First and foremost, the students and campus remained safe throughout the incident. School officials and the Sheriff’s Office worked immediately and cooperatively to ensure this.

After being notified of the threat, Deputies and Detectives responded to the school and remained on scene to maintain security and to identify the responsible party. After identifying and locating the subject, several deputies continued patrolling the school grounds to ensure ongoing safety for students and staff.

A second team of deputies responded to the subject’s residence to make contact. The individual responsible for the threats has been identified as Ronald Combs, 74, a resident of Valley Springs. Mr. Combs was taken into custody without incident.

Mr. Combs has been booked into the Calaveras County Jail for a felony violation of California Penal Code 422 (Criminal Threats). Deputies and Detectives continue to remain on scene to investigate all aspects of this case.
