Los Angeles, CA…Today, the Swalwell for Governor campaign announced the California Medical Association (CMA) has endorsed his campaign, delivering a major boost of support to a campaign that has been gaining momentum across the state.
“Congressman Eric Swalwell is the clear choice for California physicians because he understands that a strong healthcare system is the backbone of a strong economy and healthy communities,” said CMA President René Bravo, M.D. “At a moment when our healthcare system is under enormous strain, we need proven, decisive leadership, and Eric Swalwell has shown he is ready to lead.”
“I’m grateful to earn the endorsement of the California Medical Association, an organization whose voice carries enormous weight because its members see, every day, what patients and families are up against,” said Congressman Eric Swalwell. “As governor, I will continue to fight for a healthcare system that supports the doctors and health professionals on the front lines and ensures every family can afford the care they need, when, and where they need it.”
The CMA’s backing adds to a growing list of supporters from across California, including Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz, who announced his endorsement yesterday. Swalwell has the urgency, vision and strength to lower the cost of living and strengthen California’s healthcare system.
ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
Representing 50,000 physicians, the California Medical Association’s (CMA) mission is to promote the science and art of medicine, protect public health, better the medical profession and achieve health equity and justice. For more than 165 years, CMA and its component medical societies have represented California’s physicians as the recognized voice of the medical profession. Keeping pace with the changing realities of the practice of medicine and the business of health care, CMA elevates physician voices to ensure that the real-world experience and diverse perspectives of California physicians and patients are heard and the interests of physicians in all practice settings are protected.
ABOUT CA GOVERNOR’S RACE
Eric Swalwell’s campaign for Governor reported raising $3 million in just six weeks since announcing the campaign on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 20, 2025.
Two recent polls — from the highly regarded polling firm FM3 Research and Emerson College Polling — show that Swalwell quickly emerged as a frontrunner for Governor. He eclipsed former U.S. Senate candidate and Congresswoman Katie Porter and the other Democratic candidates.
According to Politico on December 17, “Democratic voters prefer Swalwell (30 percent) to Porter (21 percent)” in the FM3 poll conducted November 30-December 7 among those likely to vote in June 2026. And the Emerson College Polling survey showed Swalwell quickly surged to the lead in the crowded field of candidates.
Swalwell has coalesced early support from his colleagues. U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) serves as the Campaign Chair, and Reps. Nanette Barragan, Adam Gray, Mike Thompson, Kevin Mullin, and Jimmy Panetta have endorsed Swalwell — in addition to local elected officials across the state.
Swalwell, who represents California’s 14th Congressional District in the East Bay, has pledged to be a “fighter and protector” for California, focusing on affordability, economic growth and modernizing state government so it works better for everyone.
Current Governor Gavin Newsom is termed out in 2026, leaving this an open seat and a wide open race. Congressman Eric Swalwell is the only candidate currently in Congress and the only one actively standing up to Trump. The Primary Election is June 2, 2026.
ABOUT ERIC SWALWELL
Eric Swalwell was raised in Dublin, California, by a police officer father and a small business owner mother. The oldest of four sons, he worked paper routes and construction jobs before earning a Division I soccer scholarship and becoming the first in his family to attend college. After serving as an Alameda County prosecutor — where he led the Hate Crimes Unit — Swalwell was elected to the Dublin City Council, then to Congress in 2012. In the House, he has served on the House Intelligence Committee and currently serves on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, and is the Ranking Member on both the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection and the Judiciary Select Subcommittee on January 6. He and his wife, Brittany, are raising their three young children under the age of 9.

Makes me ill to know I can no longer trust any doctor who is a member of the CMA.
This will drive even more people out of what is physically the best state in the US. The idiots in Sacramento seemingly hate all business, hate their long time neighbors and only love power and enough immigrants to fraudulently give the state more congressional seats.
