William Andrew Schwoerer 1930 – 2026

Murphys, CA…William Andrew Schwoerer passed away on January 17, 2026 in Ridgecrest, California with his daughters, Jeannie Stephens and Rosemary Bailey at his side. He was born in Sonora, California on October 23, 1930 to Andrew C. Schwoerer and Kathryn M. (Meyer) Schwoerer.

He grew up in Murphys attending Murphys Grammer School and graduated from Bret Harte High School. He began his life long career with Southern Pacific Railroad in Oakland, California. With every promotion there came a move. From Oakland to Roseville, California, Eugene, Oregon, Houston, Texas, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Los Angeles, California, Oakland California and finally back to Roseville.

Uncle Mickey” or “Bill” loved to fly fish and hunt most of his life. He was a member of the Native Sons and the Lions Club of Murphys.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margarete in 2009, his sister Mary Lou Cunnington in 2010 and his brother Frederick Joseph in 2011, as well as, his beautiful granddaughter Leigh Ann in 2012.

He is survived by his daughters Jeannie Stephens of Creswell, Oregon, Rosemary (Alan) Bailey of Ridgecrest, California, and son William (Maria) A. Schwoerer, Jr. of Ontario, California. Also, his 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date so the family can gather with all the wonderful friends he was so fortunate to have in Murphys.
