How many of us as kids or young adults attended county fairs, or some other function where we rode carnival rides, THE HAMMER, TILT-O- Whirl, THE SCRAMBLER, ETC, knowing that these carnivals moved from city to city or were assembled, disassembled many times! Not till my later years did I start paying attention to the type of people that traveled with these carnivals, and realized many “carnies” looked like they belonged in a side show! You got on, couldn’t wait for the ride to haul butt, and very seldom did you come out a loser! 25 cents and instant fun!
Totally off the point, but why would 16 consenting adults go out back country skiing in one of the most rugged winter storms we have seen in a longtime? You couldn’t see 5 feet in front of you, the wind is blowing 60-70 miles an hr,you have 6-10 feet of fresh snow sitting on an ice pack, ready for someone to cross it and away it goes!
Not only did 9 people lose their lives, but now you put many rescue personnel in danger as well!
My recollection of back country skiing was to access great snow, with views very few see in the winter!
Someone has a lot splaining to do, yes, they were adults, consenting to do this, but my gosh, what a price to pay!
Getting back to carnival rides, we put a lot of trust in the machines that they were going to start and stop, an avalanche starts and stops, but in its path there can be death and destruction!
Now, for the rest of the story!

Apparently all were experienced back country skiers, shoers, with a lot of experience. They thought that would prepare them for any ‘issue”. One thing they forgot………………
    “Mother Nature always wins”
A “snow drought” followed by a huge storm sets up the high probability of avalanche danger. Many factors involved.
The expert back country skiers and guides thought their experience would allow them to withstand avalanche issues/dangers.

They thought their experience would allow them to take on Mother Nature.
    A deadly decision.
    “Mother Nature always wins”

A lesson Donald J Trump never learned, never will. And all of us will pay the ultimate price. Not tomorrow, next year, this decade. But with the Trump administrations ignorance of climate issues, their turning a blind eye to consequences of climate damage, their thirst for short term monetary gain, within a few decades our grandchildren will start really “paying the price” for Trumps trashing of our protective enviornmental protections.

RIP backcountry avalanche victims. Mother Nature makes the final decisions………
    Remember that Trump backers.

I just read the roster of the people involved in the avalanche, never saw Trumps name, guess he was busy solving some of Americas issues left by the TARD party, which happen to be enormous! Nice try Tard, you might want to read your Bible, I never see “MOTHER NATURE” mentioned!

What are you now a bible thumper?

    • Anonymous   February 20, 2026 8:10 am - at 8:10 am

^^Yeah, Trump is “solving some of Americas issues”, what by forming his Board Of Peace. It is beholdin’ to knowone, not one government, has no policy, no framework, it was just “formed” by the Orange Conman Donald J Trump. For his benefit.

AND NOW………..he says the American people will “contribute” 10 billion to its benefit. Doesn’t he mean HIS benefit?????? You know damn well this is just another scam, right out in public for all to see. And our SCOTUS, in its right wing leanings and votes, allows him to get away with his never ending fleecing of America.

We need Lee Harvey Oswald to be resurrected.
