Sunny Will Add Sunshine to Your Life! Adopt Her Today!!

San Andreas, CA…Meet Sunny (A060435), an intact female Husky/Retriever mix, about 6 months old and weighing 40 pounds. Sunny is a golden girl in both color and spirit. When she first arrived at Calaveras County Animal Services as a stray, she clearly adored people but was understandably cautious around other dogs after a frightening encounter before coming to the shelter. The busy kennel environment can be overwhelming for a young pup, but with patient introductions and gentle guidance, Sunny has begun rebuilding her confidence.

Today, she is discovering that other dogs can be friends. After just a few positive experiences, she has started to enjoy playtime, happily romping and chasing with canine companions. It’s been a joy for staff to watch her trust grow and her playful side emerge. Beneath her initial uncertainty is a resilient, affectionate puppy who wants very much to connect.

At six months old, Sunny is very much in the spirited stage of puppyhood. She can be mouthy and tends to jump up when she’s excited, all normal behaviors for her age and things that will benefit from continued training and structure. She is energetic, eager to please, and has handled new experiences—including bath time—remarkably well.
Sunny would thrive in an active home ready to invest in puppy training and continued socialization. Because of her youthful exuberance, a home with older children would likely be the best fit. She keeps her kennel area clean, which is encouraging for future housetraining, and she shows strong potential to mature into a loyal and loving companion. With her expressive ears—one standing tall and the other delightfully floppy—and her bright, hopeful nature, Sunny is ready to begin her next chapter.
