San Andreas, CA…Mr. James Ernest Poe April 5, 1940 ~ February 15, 2026 (age 85). James Ernest Poe, 85, of San Andreas, CA, died peacefully at Golden San Andreas on February 15, 2026. He was born on April 5. 1940, in Jackson, CA to James Lewis and Cora Mae Poe (Winkler).

He graduated from Sacramento State University, class of 1962, with a bachelor’s Degree in Business. Just prior to his graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara (Bobbie) Sue Jasper and celebrated 64 years of marriage in December of 2025. They lived in Stockton, CA and James worked for the State of California Department of Caltrans. They Eventually moved to Sacramento, CA after he was promoted to a Land Agent for the State of California States Land Commissions.

In 1979, they settled back home in San Andreas, CA where he became part owner of Winkler’s Mart, a family owned business. He eventually went back to Cal Trans before retiring. After retiring, he was very involved with the San Andreas Fire Department serving as the Commissioner on the Board of Directors. He loved hunting, trips to the cabin, cutting firewood and playing the piano while hanging out with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, James Lewis Poe and Cora Mae Poe (Winkler), he was predeceased by his two sons, James Fanen Poe and Christopher Bryce Poe. Surviving in addition to his wife Bobbi (Jasper) Poe; his daughter Denise (Poe) Morris and her husband, Michael, of Elverta, CA; daughter-in-law Lori (Ingram) Poe; 6 grandchildren, (Brian, Brandon, Kelsey, Wesley, Jordan, Emily); and 4 great-grandchildren (Cathryn, Charlotte, Aiden, Zelly).

He was loved very much by his family and he will be greatly missed.

There will be no services held as the family has decided to honor James with a private family gathering only.
