Copperopolis, CA…The Inaugural Copperopolis Strawberry Festival made it’s debut at Copperopolis Town Square on Sunday and what an initial run it was. Several estimates put the attendance at over 5,000 during the course of the event. It looks like we may have another annual event that will become a staple on the annual events calendars. The Strawberry Festival had something for everyone. Arts, Crafts, Carriage Rides, Food, Drink, Music and more. The Square has matured into a great event venue and destination with nice permanent shops, great parking and a beautiful and manicured venue for events…

This event was an amplification of their weekly Market At The Square that runs every Sunday through October.

Turlock’s Cipponeri Family Farms brought bushels of its regular and organic farm-fresh strawberries to the free event. Other highlights included Old Skool Pie Pizza serving sweet and savory strawberry pizzas; Sidewinders complementing its carne asada tacos, grilled and Polish hot dogs with strawberry salads; and Angel-Murphys Rotary Club tending two bars featuring strawberry-infused drinks plus wine and beer.

More than 100 vendors are expected to participate. Some will offer strawberry-flavored offerings like smoothies, shaved ice, shortcakes, cobblers, tarts, crepes, kettle korn, cheesecakes and cupcakes. Others will be selling artisan baked goods, hand-crafted home décor and more. Copperopolis Town Square shops will also get into the fun with strawberry-themed foods and drinks.

Live music by Plan B, a free raffle every hour, kids’ activities and wagon rides for all ages round out the lineup.

Copperopolis Town Square is situated in the rolling foothills of the Central Sierra on Highway 4 in Calaveras County, two hours from the Bay Area and 1.5 hours from Sacramento. The area offers visitors a wide variety of amenities and activities including golf, tennis and dining at the acclaimed Saddle Creek Resort (www.saddlecreekgolf.com) with accommodations for guests in luxurious Lodge Bungalows conveniently located within a few paces of the golf course.
