Angels Camp, CA — Calaveras County’s world-famous jumping frogs are hitting the road once again, kicking off their annual goodwill tour to build excitement for the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, taking place May 14–17, 2026, at Frogtown in Angels Camp.
A beloved local tradition, the goodwill tour brings the frogs—and their dedicated Frog Jump Committee handlers—out into the community and beyond, offering a lively preview of the iconic competition that draws visitors from around the world.
The frogs will make their official debut at the Fair Mixer on April 30, 2026, before embarking on a series of appearances that include visits to local schools and community events throughout the region.
Highlights of the tour include the State Capitol Frog Jump on May 5 in Sacramento, sponsored by Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil (Senate District 4), and the Calaveras County Government Center Jump on May 12 in San Andreas.
Last year’s Capitol event drew more than 50 elected officials, legislative staff, and media representatives, all competing for bragging rights and the chance to advance to the prestigious Jumping Frog Jubilee Grand Finals. This year’s event is especially significant, marking the 50th anniversary of the Capitol Frog Jump, a milestone celebration of this unique California tradition.
“The goodwill tour is a fun and meaningful way to share our heritage and invite everyone to be part of the excitement,” said Laurie Giannini, CEO. “We’re especially thrilled to celebrate 50 years of frog jumping at the State Capitol and look forward to another unforgettable Jubilee.”
The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, inspired by Mark Twain’s famous short story, continues to be one of California’s most distinctive and entertaining events, featuring frog jumping competitions, live entertainment, exhibits, and family-friendly fun.
The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee runs May 14-17, 2026, featuring world-famous frog jumping contests, live music, carnival rides, livestock exhibits, and family-friendly fun.
