Sonora, CA…On April 28, 2026, in the early morning hours, officers with the Sonora Police Department responded to the area of the Grocery Outlet for a report of two males involved in a physical altercation.
Upon arrival, officers located the involved parties and conducted an investigation as to what occurred. It was determined that one of the involved subjects, 38-year-old David Jacklich from the Mountain Ranch area, began following the other subject, making threatening statements.
Jacklich brandished a knife, causing the victim to fear for his safety and attempted to leave the area. Jacklich chased after and struck the victim with a belt multiple times. The victim was ultimately able to take Jacklich to the ground, with officers arriving shortly after. Based on the investigation, the incident appeared to be unprovoked.
Jacklich was arrested and transported to the Tuolumne County Jail. He was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony criminal threats, misdemeanor brandishing a weapon, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
