Celebration of life for Dan Mossinger is on July 18th

Murphys, CA…Dan “Easy” Mossinger passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2026 in Woodland, CA. Dan was born in Oakland, CA to Dan and Shirley Mossinger.  He grew up in San Leandro and spent most weekends at his parent’s cabin in Cottage Springs. When he was 16 they moved to Arnold to own and run the general store. Dan graduated with the class of 1973 from Bret Harte High School

Dan loved wood. When Dan was 12 he helped his dad shingle the siding on their home.  He was very proud of becoming a contractor in 1978, building his business, Mossinger Construction and helping to raise two nephews Philip and Matthew.

Dan loved adventure and having fun. Dan learned to fly ultralight planes with his lifelong friend Arno.  Dan learned to cave with his friend George. They traveled the country caving. Their adventures would take a lifetime to tell.  Dan loved going on cruises and going to Hawaii where his grandmother was born.

Most of all he loved helping family, friends and the communities he lived in.  He was generous with his talent and time, which is how he got the nickname Easy.  He made life easy for the people he loved. Dan put his parents’ needs before his own, caring for them in their final years as well as taking in a foster son Chris.  After his parents passed, Dan moved to Esparto, CA with Chris and rekindled a friendship/love with Melissa. They loved to dance, go to concerts, take road trips and to visit family.  Most of all they loved making their home their own special haven, taking turns planning project design. Dan liked to say, “I’m the builder, Melissa’s the project manager and the only thing she has to manage is me.”

Dan leaves behind his sweetheart Melissa Jordan, stepsons Jordan (Jenny), Harrison and Graham Mast, beloved grandchildren; Aiden, Brooklyn, James and Winnie as well as nephews Brandon (Johanna) and Jimmy (Cami), Aunt Rosemarie (Don) Mossinger and Uncle Karl (Nancy) Mossinger and many dear cousins . He was preceded in death by his parents Dan and Shirley and his brother Jim. Dan’s brother Bob passed away at the end of May 2026.

Dan’s third favorite thing was food. Family and friends are invited to gather for a potluck picnic on Saturday, July 18, 2026 in Murphys Park (516 S. Algiers St., Murphys, CA) at 11:00 a.m. to share memories and honor Dan’s life. Dan’s legacy of craftsmanship will continue in the lives of all who are privileged to live in a home built or repaired by Dan.
