San Andreas, CA…The California Highway Patrol San Andreas Area is proud to congratulate Lieutenant Rich Anglesey on his promotion to Commander of the CHP San Andreas Area Office.
Lieutenant Anglesey brings more than 17 years of statewide law enforcement experience to his new role. Throughout his career, he has served in patrol, as a Field Training Officer, and as a Drug Recognition Expert. He has also held specialized assignments with the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, the Mounted Patrol Unit, and as a Patrol Sergeant.
In addition to his field experience, Lieutenant Anglesey has served in several key administrative roles, including Academy Instructor, Critical Incident Response Team member, and Peer Support Program Coordinator.
Lieutenant Anglesey has been married for more than 20 years and is the proud father of three. His family is his greatest inspiration, and together they enjoy spending time outdoors, participating in sports, and traveling.
He looks forward to continuing to serve the communities of Calaveras County with dedication, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to public safety.

Welcome Sir, instruct your officers to obey and carry out the laws you were sworn to uphold! Blacked out windows in automobiles is unlawful, correct?, too many autos in this county with total blacked out windows, I don’t feel comfortable when a pick-up or car pulls up beside me and I can’t tell whether the driver or passengers are displaying firearms or doing other unlawful junk! You will have my support until I know if you have the”balls” to enforce the laws you are sworn to uphold, or is it going to be business as usual, in other words, take the chicken way out! Please listen to those of us that expect you and your street officers to get these windows clear, we expect that of you! Thank you!

Another thing the hiway patrol could help with is making themselves visible in Murphy’s on the weekend, especially, too many underage children riding E- bikes a nd scooters illegally, I nearly hit one today coming out of the post office, the rider was shielded by a vehicle in front of her, I started to pull out and there she was. Many of them ride in-out of traffic using the walk areas to ride then suddenly veer out into the traffic lanes, it’s going to happen to some unsuspecting motorist, I hope you will make yourselves visible, and crack down on this, the parents turn their 10- 15 yr olds lose on the streets, then those of us who are abiding by the law have to put up with a waiting tragedy!
