Arnold, CA…This morning as we were working an old log this little guy popped out. If you are new to the mountains this a wood beetle larva. They are also one of the reason bears tear up old stumps and rotted logs. A few of these make a nice snack for a hungry bear. We left the axe in the photo so you can see the size comparison. This little guy isn’t even the biggest one we have see.
