August 7 AM Operations.mp4Today’s operations will focus on making structures impacted by the fire safe, mopping up some areas of the fire, and removing possible hazards. Air and ground resources will be working together to suppress any hot spots.
The Gann Fire is 10,374 acres and 40% contained. Fire activity remains minimal. Interior fuels may continue to smolder. Crews are continuing to strengthen containment lines and mop up.
Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) are conducting infrared missions over the fire area to identify residual heat and help prioritize suppression and mop up efforts.
Hot and dry conditions remain. Please continue to use caution if entering in a previously evacuated area as crews will still be working.
Yesterdays firing operations improved containment by eliminating a large area of dry fuel.
No significant fire activity was observed today. The current fire behavior is primarily smoldering within the interior of the perimeter.
Tonight crews will focus on identifying pockets of heat and strengthening existing containment.
Damage inspection is in progress.
The Gann Fire is now 10,384 acres and 33% contained.

Repopulation Information
Resources are available for community members affected by the fire.
Resource Connection Food Bank Calaveras County Residents with photo ID and proof of residency that need assistance can visit the food bank during normal operations on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-4 p.m. (closed for lunch 12-1230), or call (209) 754-1257.
Red Cross can assist residents who have homes that were damaged or destroyed if it meets their criteria. Proof of residency, photo ID, and proof of damage can be submitted with the Red Cross at either evacuation shelter to get the process started. Residents have up to 14 days to contact Red Cross for help after the shelters close with a few exceptions.
