San Andreas, CA…New Predator Preparedness and Response Handbook for Livestock Producers and Community Members.
This new comprehensive resource aims to support livestock producers and owners facing predator depredations.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the release of a Predator Preparedness and Response Handbook, a valuable new resource designed to assist livestock producers in managing and responding to predator-related incidents.

Developed in collaboration with agricultural experts, wildlife officials, and local groups such as our Calaveras County Cattlemen’s Association and Farm Bureau; this handbook provides practical guidance and actionable strategies for mitigating depredations and safeguarding livestock operations.

Recognizing the challenges posed by predatory wildlife, the Sheriff’s Office worked with local and state cooperators and stakeholders to create this handbook to empower producers with detailed information on prevention methods, emergency response protocols, and reporting procedures. The resource is intended to help producers minimize losses, protect animal welfare, and foster effective communication with law enforcement and wildlife agencies.

The Predator Preparedness and Response Handbook is now available for download on the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office website and can be accessed by all at Predator Preparedness and Response Handbook.
