San Andreas, CA…Congratulations to Undersheriff Chris Villegas, who graduated this morning from the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Chris’s law enforcement career began in 1998 when he graduated from the Modesto Junior College Police Academy as a member of Class S1-98. Nearly three decades later, he has now completed the FBI National Academy, one of the most respected leadership and professional development programs in law enforcement.

From his first academy graduation in 1998 to today’s graduation at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Chris’s career reflects a longstanding commitment to leadership, service, and continued professional development. We are proud to recognize this significant milestone in his career and his accomplishment on behalf of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.

The 299th session of the FBI National Academy graduated 265 law enforcement officers today. The class included men and women from 44 states and the District of Columbia, as well as 29 international members representing law enforcement agencies from 28 countries. The class also included members from five military organizations and four federal civilian organizations.

Internationally recognized for its academic excellence, the National Academy provides 10 weeks of advanced training in communication, leadership, and fitness. Attendance is reserved for law enforcement professionals who have demonstrated proven records of service and accomplishment within their agencies.

FBI Director Kashyap P. Patel delivered remarks during the graduation ceremony. Class spokesperson Darnel Robinson of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., represented the graduating officers.

The National Academy also has an academic component. Since 1972, students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia, which accredits the National Academy courses offered.

The FBI National Academy has a long and distinguished history. Since the program began in 1935, a total of 57,461 graduates have completed the National Academy. The program is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office congratulates Undersheriff Villegas on this outstanding accomplishment and recognizes the dedication, experience, and commitment that brought him to this significant milestone.
