Thanksgiving is Cider Time!! Stock Up at Posterity Ciderworks!

Arnold, CA…Here’s the deal: Thanksgiving is Cider’s time to shine. Every course can be paired with a cider, and we do not take it lightly that so many of you include us in your Thanksgiving spread. You truly cannot go wrong, but here are our recommendations.

Appetizers
Our Green Dragon – Bacon wrapped dates, deviled eggs, oysters
Crisp bubbles, smoke and herbal pepper on the nose, light heat & acidity with fruit on the finish; Our Green Dragon is a perfect pop of heat to pair with every bite.

Sidra Calaveras- Bruschetta and fondue, Shrimp Cocktail
Classic tart apple, restrained mineralic acidity, fresh sparkle and smooth oak; clean & bright, Sidra Calaveras No.7 is a refreshing & versatile palate cleanser between bold courses.

Arkansas Black- Potato Chips, Charcuterie
Rich fruit, hints of chai spice, dry but velvety finish; Arkansas Black is the perfect cider to transition from appetizers to main courses.

Main Course
Lions Tigers and Pears- Mashed potatoes and Stuffing
Floral acidity, tart pear with hints of tropical fruit, and aromatic French oak; this perlant pear cider helps balance rich dishes with a restrained acidic lift.

Rainbow Quail- Turkey and Cranberry, Yams
High toned stonefruit, alpine strawberries & cream, and perfumed quince, with a delicate earthy background of oak & wild chanterelle mushrooms; Rainbow Quail is a great supporting player that will complement a wide range of plates without overwhelming the star of the show.

Cave Gremlin- Ham, Turkey, Duck, Brussel Sprouts
Fresh pomegranate & cranberry, soft woodsmoke, and delicate white pepper; our Counoise & Merlot grape blend Cave Gremlin brings brightness and substance at the same time to pair flawlessly with the richest courses on the table.

Dessert Spread
Solstice
Warm fruit, honey, spice tones, and a delicate sweetness; we suggest serving this still apple mead like an after-dinner port, sherry, or brandy

Fine cider makers, Posterity Ciderworks, have opened their second tasting room offering premium natural ciders, meads and co-ferments. Husband and Wife team Brendan and Kris Barnard have their Arnold Tasting Room open Thursday – Sunday from 12:00-6pm. at 1771 Hwy 4, suite F, Arnold CA

The cidery is known for their work reclaiming abandoned historic orchards throughout Gold Country and featuring the fruit in elegant ciders that highlight the terroir of the Sierra Foothills. The pair have also revived an even older beverage category with their unique meads, employing local honey and foraged ingredients. All of their ciders are fermented to dryness and have no added sulfites, clarifiers, artificial colors or flavors. In the almost 4 years since opening, Posterity Ciderworks has graced many fine dining menus as a featured beverage pairing in restaurants like Saison, Atelier Crenn, Petite Crenn, Sons and Daughters, Anomaly SF and Localis.

The move to Arnold is an important bridge between their Bay Area and Sacramento customer bases. According to https://staystra.com/location/california/arnold/, Arnold, CA has a population of 3,300 but sees an average of 250,000 visitors annually with multi-season draws including Calaveras Big Trees State Park, White Pines Lake and neighboring Bear Valley Ski Resort.

“We’ve heard from our customers that our manufacturing space and first tasting room in Mokelumne Hill were often treated as a mid-trip detour on the way to Arnold. When searching for towns for our second tasting room, it was a natural choice to look in Arnold” Kris Barnard, co-owner and founder said. “We’re delighted to be in Arnold, to showcase the wild and foraged fruit of our county inside our unique libations. We believe cider belongs with gourmet meals, and we’ve sought out and restored historic orchards throughout the Sierras to help us make that point” stated Brendan Barnard, head orchardist and cider maker.

The new tasting room features a rotating selection of on-draft pours, bottles and cans to-go, and tasting flights. “Everything we make is small batch, and our mission is to push the expectations our guests have for ciders and meads. Our tasting experience is designed to be in-depth and personal. We want to share the stories of each offering while you’re tasting it”

The Arnold tasting room is open Thursday-Sunday, 12-6pm. Walk-ins are welcome, reservations can be made online or over the phone via text or call.
