Another Series Of Master Food Preserving Classes Start On July 13th.

Jackson, CA…The Master Food Preservers of Amador/Calaveras Counties will be presenting three more classes in July. July 13th, PRESSURE CANNING, 6:30-8:30pm. FREE Does the thought of using a pressure canner scare you? We will explain how a pressure canner works and the multiple safety features included on every modern canner. Build your confidence in pressure canning by watching several mini-demonstrations, compare a variety of canner types, and learn when you need to use a pressure canner and why. Don’t risk a case of botulism because you didn’t practice safe canning. Amador County GSA Building, 12200-B Airport Road, Jackson.

July 22nd, BECOME A MASTER FOOD PRESERVER, 10:00-11:00am. Do you enjoy canning or drying food? Do you enjoy teaching others how to learn new skills? Do you want to meet new people who share your food passion? Become a volunteer for the UCCE Master Food Preservers of Amador/Calaveras County! At this one-hour informational meeting you’ll learn about the mission of the UC Master Food Preserver program, the educational events we provide in our community, the training required to become certified, and the annual requirements for active members. Learn how dehydrating food works and what makes it a safe preservation technique. Explore different styles of dehydrators and see several other drying techniques that require minimal effort and supplies.
