Sonora, CA… Sonora Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Phong Dargon, MD, to Sierra Vascular and General Surgery Associates. Dr. Dargon completed fellowship training in Vascular Surgery at Loma Linda University after completing his residency in General Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College in Illinois and medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Dr. Dargon became interested in surgery very early on. At the age of six, he was disappointed that his Fisher Price medical kit did not contain a plastic scalpel. Remaining focused on his medical career throughout his education, Dr. Dargon fell in love with Vascular Surgery in medical school. “Vascular biology just made sense and really interested me,” says Dr. Dargon. “I knew it was something I wanted to take care of for the rest of my life.”
In his practice, Dr. Dargon will focus on treating diseases of the veins and arteries using minimally-invasive catheterization and surgical procedures such as carotid endarterectomy to prevent stroke and other procedures such as creating vascular access – arteriovenous fistulas – for dialysis patients.
Dr. Dargon has moved to Sonora from Redlands, California, with his wife Briana, a graduate student studying counseling, and their two dogs – a pug named Letty and “chug” (Chihuahua + pug) named Brodie. In their spare time they enjoy movies and music as well as getting outdoors running, hiking, biking and camping.
