Board of Supervisors Summary Publication

San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance to amend Section 15.06.032 and Section 15.06.041 of Chapter 15.06, Flood Damage Prevention of the Calaveras County Code. Section 15.06.032 is revised to include reference to the use of Base Flood Elevations from the Atkins Study as Best Available Data. Section 15.06.041 is revised to identify the Planning Director as the FEMA Floodplain Administrator for Calaveras County. The full text of this Ordinance amendment is available at the Planning Department and at the office of the Clerk of the Board, Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, CA.

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall take effect 30 days after adoption and shall be published once within 15 days of adoption in the newspaper of general circulation published in the County of Calaveras with the names of the Supervisors voting for and against it.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will hold FY 2017/18 Recommended Budget Hearings commencing on June 13, 2017 through June 16, 2017, or until completion.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, due to unscheduled vacancies and expiration of terms, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors encourages interested and qualified persons to apply for membership to the following County committees or commissions:

Children and Families Commission – First 5 Calaveras
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/19 – Recipient of Project Services Representative
To define and promote the First 5 Calaveras mission/vision; establish First 5 Calaveras organizational policies; make major decisions (i.e. adopt strategic plan, funds, allocations, etc.); provide public leadership and support for the goals, objectives and strategies of the commission; provide supervision and support to the Executive Director; and to provide leadership to make early childhood development a focal point for the community, rallying many diverse resources around a common agenda and strategic plan that benefits young children and families.
Meetings: Meets 8-12 times per year on the first Friday of each month, generally 9:00 – 11:00 AM, at the First 5 Calaveras office, 373 St. Charles Street, San Andreas, CA.

County Service Area #1 – Rancho Calaveras
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/19 – Member 1
To act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors with respect to improvement and maintenance of roads within CSA #4.
Meeting times and locations vary. Contact the County Public Works Department for information.

Fish and Game Commission
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/17 – District 5 Representative 1
To develop facts, make findings and forward recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning organization, promotion and supervision of community and county-wide fish and wildlife programs and activities within the county. To advise on the propagation, preservation and conservation of fish and wildlife in the county.
Members are required to annually file Statement of Economic Interest – Form 700.
Meetings: Meets at 5:30 PM on the fourth Wednesday of the month (January through October) in the Board Chambers at Government Center in San Andreas.

IHSS Advisory Committee
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/18 – General Public Representative 1
The Advisory Committee shall provide ongoing advice and recommendations regarding In-Home Supportive Services and the Public Authority to the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, the Governing Body, and any administrative body in the county that is related to the delivery and administration of In-Home Supportive Services. Members of the Committee are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest upon appointment, annually and when leaving office.
The Committee meets on the last Monday of each month, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, at the San Andreas Branch Library.
Library Commission
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/18 – Member at Large 7
The Commission shall act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors in all matters pertaining to the Calaveras County Free Library.
Meetings: Meets on the third Monday of each month at various locations throughout the county. In the event of a holiday on the third Monday, the Commission will meet on the fourth Monday.

Mental Health Board
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/17 – General Public Member 6
1) The local Mental Health Board shall review and evaluate the community’s mental health needs, services, facilities and special problems. 2) Review any County agreements entered into pursuant to Section 5650. 3) Advise the Board of Supervisors and the local Mental Health Director as to any aspect of the local mental health program. 4) Review and approve procedures used to ensure citizen and professional involvement at all stages of the planning process as specified in Section 5651. 5) Submit an annual report to the Board of Supervisors and the Statewide Planning Council. 6) Make recommendations regarding the appointment of a local Director of Mental Health Services. 7) Review and make recommendations concerning applicants for the Board prior to approval by the Board of Supervisors.
Meetings: Meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Behavioral Health Department Building.

Rail Road Flat Cemetery District
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/20 – Member 1
The purpose is to address the continuing need to provide for the respectful and cost-effective interment of human remains to meet the cultural, economic, religious, and social needs of California’s diverse communities. Additional responsibilities include the maintenance of the cemetery.
