“On the Right Track” Program Helps Local Students make “Real Life” Plans

San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Calaveras Business Resource Center, Bret Harte High School, Calaveras Unified School District, Calaveras High School, Calaveras County Office of Education and the Calaveras County Administrative Offices are proud to announce the 1st Annual “On the Right Track” program taking place in the Spring of 2018. This program is designed to equip our young adults with skills needed to maneuver through life by creating, “real life” scenarios requiring each student to engage organizations that can meet their needs and provide support.

The “On the Right Track” events will took place on the track at Bret Harte High School, April 9th, 2018 and heads to Calaveras High School May 31st, 2018. Graduating students will be presented with scenarios that will require them to make decisions on how to seek services and find solutions. This program serves as a catalyst for conversations about community structures, social inequalities, and how people can work together to make positive changes in their lives and within their communities. Students will be challenged to go out into the community (provided on the track during the event) and learn what resources are available to them.

Through the collaboration of community partners, this fun-filled learning experience will be designed to keep Calaveras County youth “On the Right Track” as they transition into the next phase of life while exposing them to potential career paths as they learn and engage with multiple businesses and organizations during the event. Students will be equipped with valuable resources and relationships that will empower them as they become responsible, productive members of society.

“On the Right Track” will offer an opportunity for Calaveras County schools, business community, county offices, and residents to come together; preparing the next generation to successfully navigate through many of the organizations or agencies they will encounter during their lifetime.
