Ahwahnee Ca. CalFire Units along with Sierra National Forest Units are working a Vegetation Fire approximately 7 miles North on Hwy 49 in rugged terrain with difficult access.  We will try to bring you updates as they become available.

Update: Per Scanner Traffic Forward Progress has been stopped on this fire and will be working towards the Mop Up Stages.  Expect heavy equipment traffic in this area through out the evening.

Update: Dozers are still working to get full access to this fire and cleaning up other access roads around this incident. Incident Command is estimating 2-3 acres but this could change.

Update: Air Attack is releasing some Tankers back to their respective bases. Reports of heavy Lightning in the nearby area.

Update: Tankers are dropping Retardant IE: PhosChek in very heavy loads around this fire incident to help fire crews still working to make access. There will be a long mop up involved due to terrain and types of fuels.

Update: In this image you can see how difficult the terrain is. Dozers are working to cut lines to get crews as close as they can:

Update: 2-3 acres. Slow to moderate rate of spread. Potential of about 20-30 acres at this point. Heavy fuels.

Update: CalFire along with the Sierra National Forest Units are in the process of ordering more resources for this incident.

Update: Units are having to stage at Worman Road due to access to the fire itself.

Update: CalFire Tankers out of Holister and Columbia Air Bases are working this fire. The fire is less than an acre at this time but in bad terrain.
