Bear Valley, CA…As the Summer of 2015 marches on, many of us are lured to Alpine County; for a day trip and picnic or camping. This can prove to be a wonderful respite, with its cooler temperatures and all the lovely streams, lakes and vista points. On July 24th, two other venues will make for wonderful memories, in Bear Valley. Music will be in the air; and the 24th Annual Bear Valley Art Show run by the members of the Arts of Bear Valley; will open; in the Perry Walther Building, near the music tent.

AOBV is a local Art Group of Professional Artists who meet monthly, throughout the year. In addition to two major shows each year; members help with Art Programs in local schools, contribute to a local Art scholarship, help with Family Day at Big Trees park and will be providing art projects and demonstrations, on weekends during that show this year. If you are interested in the possibility of joining the group, please ask any attending Artist for information.

This year, 22 members are showing some of their latest works. AOBV Artists are hosting the show, and will be more than happy to try to answer any questions you or your children may have, about the art or artist of a particular piece.

Each year, posters to advertise this Art Event have been made and they have become quite collectable with the general public. This year, two of our members, Helen Scofield and Ann Nancy Macomber have assembled a wonderful addition for your viewing. These ladies worked very hard to collect posters from every year they could find; and with the help of Walt at Gateway Press in Murphys, the posters have been laminated and will be displayed chronologically at the show. This is a wonderful example of many of our member’s artwork over the last 24 years. We are very happy to have this wonderful presentation, as an addition to the show.

There will be a “Meet the Artist”, Reception on Saturday, July 25th from 5-6:30 pm. Show hours are on Concert Days only. Weekdays 3 pm to close of Intermission and Weekends 11 am to close of Intermission. Concert days run through August 9th. Admission is free to the Art Show. This is a wonderful way to treat yourselves, and family to a professional Art Exhibit.

An Art Raffle is just on of many features at the show. Proceeds benefit the Bear Valley Music Festival. This year’s donations come from four artists in the group; Janet Alcalde; Elaine Cahill; Ann Nancy Macomber; and Ruth Morrow. This is your chance to purchase tickets, help the Music Festival and get a chance to win one or more of these fine art pieces. The Raffle will be held on August 9th at the end of the last concert. You do not have to be present to win.

Children’s Creative Events begin on July 31st. Art Adventures time slots are 11 am and 2 pm. Then, on July 1st, at 12 Noon your child can participate in Children’s Crafts. Our artists love to help your children enjoy their own unique creative processes. Signups are in the Bear Valley Library.
