Valley Springs, CA…On July 22, 2019, at about 4:30 PM a Calaveras County patrol deputy initiated a vehicle enforcement stop for excessive speed on Hogan Dam Rd near Hwy 26, Valley Springs. The driver failed to yield to the marked patrol unit and accelerated away from the deputy at speeds over 70MPH. During the pursuit the suspect vehicle struck a telephone pole, crossed over the double yellow lines multiple times and at one point nearly collided with an SUV. Suspect David Sayle (age 34 Valley Springs) eventually stopped his vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies located suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia (glass smoking pipe) and other items that were indicative to the sale of methamphetamine. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Suspect Sayle was booked into the Calaveras County Jail the following charges:
2800. 2 CVC Evading a peace officer – Felony
11379 (A) H&S Transport controlled substance – Felony
11378 H&S Possession of controlled substance for sale – Felony
11364(a) H&S Possession of drug paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
14601.1 CVC Drive while license is suspended – Misdemeanor
20002(B) CVC Hit and Run (with property damage) – Misdemeanor
Total Bail $105,000
